Dear Jon Henrik, I hope your feelings have changed a little. Ethnography is a priviledge and a curse. More of the latter perhaps when our “faith” in the project weakens - but then it is just a (strange) job;) I guess it is inevitable to have such periods (loong ones, even) of doubt, wondering and boredom, when choosing to do something so out of the ordinary, and far away from our everyday places, people and concerns. All I can say now, though, is thank you for sharing those thoughts. It means a lot, and gives a lot of food for thought now that I am about to plunge into a similar situation. Don’t stop writing.

I recommend daily doses of liquor to get you through.

“a country notorious (along with “most other countries in the world, perhaps?) for its relaxed attitude to time.”

Thankfully these places still exist in a world culture obsessed with not only punctuality (always revolving around commerce/work), but the illusion of time itself!
